KOTAMON Build Guide: Test Upgrades Without Wasting Resources

Steam confirms that the player can upgrade to become faster, stronger, and more efficient at clearing rubbish. It does not provide current values or a full skill tree, so this guide uses measurements you can reproduce.

Evidence boundary: Checked August 22, 2026. Demo and pre-release observations are not treated as guaranteed full-release facts.

Name the bottleneck

Time a representative cleanup loop. Separate travel, interaction, carrying, and hand-in time. The largest segment is your current bottleneck; an upgrade outside that segment may feel good without improving the loop.

Capture a baseline

Use the same short route, similar rubbish density, and the same order state. Record completion time and interruptions. One run is noisy, so repeat it if the cost of the decision is high.

Change one upgrade

Buy or equip one change and repeat the route. Do not combine movement and clearing upgrades in the same test because you will not know which caused the difference.

Prefer flexible early value

When two choices appear similar, favor the one that helps common actions across orders and exploration. This is a decision rule, not a claim about a specific undocumented upgrade.

Protect scarce resources

If the interface does not show refunds or respec, assume the choice may be persistent until verified. Keep a reserve instead of spending only to clear a notification.

Re-test after updates

Patch changes can invalidate timing. Label every recommendation with the build tested and avoid universal best-build language.
